The presence of actively serving youth within a local church indicates the congregation is reaching the next generation and active mission involvement indicates they are taking the great commission seriously. Crystal and I have always looked to these two areas first when we evaluate the health and life of a local church.
Youth -N- Missions was birthed out of a word, I guess two words rather, in 1995 while visiting Texas. I had been seeking God's guidance and direction through study, fasting and praying for a few months. It was one of those times when you know God is moving in the spirit realm but you're not seeing it just yet. I was in a service in the Dallas Forth Worth area and cried out to the Lord; "Father, please, just a word. What am I to do next, what as I to do now"? Then into my spirit dropped those two words: Youth. Missions.
This ministry provides short term mission opportunities for youth between the ages of 13 and 21. Sometimes through other ministries (I loath reinventing wheels), other times an independent trip, but always through one of the ministries where we have a relationship. We help local churches coordinate trips for their own youth ministry or link them with another church when size allows us to do so.
The opportunities range from building projects, summer and retreat camps for orphans to creative arts ministry in and out of local churches throughout America and the world.
